Each year, every MSHSAA school must declare a summer "Dead period," which lasts a minimum of 9 days. No sports activities, no conditioning activities, no use of school facilities, and no sports contact with the coach can occur. It must start on a Saturday and last at least until the 2nd Sunday following.
Camdenton schedules this summertime dead period to correspond with the July 4th Holiday.
June 28- July 6, 2025
June 27- July 5, 2026
June 26 - July 4, 2027
July 1 - July 9, 2028
We also have "no contact periods" prior to the first practice of each season each year. The 7 days immediately preceding the first allowable practice for fall, winter, and spring sports is a "no-contact" period. However, these are sport-specific. So, the week before basketball starts, no basketball activities can occur, but anyone playing volleyball or football can continue doing VB or FB activities. In the Spring, no track or soccer activities can occur, but students continue playing basketball if their winter season sport lasts that long.
So the dates below give accurate “no-contact weeks” for one sport season, but your student may still have activities from another sport or activity:
Spring 2025
1st practice is 3/3- no contact for spring sports 2/24-3/3 (basketball will last until at least 3/5 and may last until 3/22, NHS induction or a band concert may be scheduled)
Fall 2025
First practice is 8/11- no contact for fall sports 8/4-8/11 (but summer activities for band, basketball, etc. may continue)
Winter 25-26
1st practice is 11/3- no contact for winter sports 10/28-11/3 (VB may still be playing until 11/8; Fall play or marching band contests may be scheduled during this time)
Spring 2026
1st practice is 3/2- no contact from spring sports 2/24-3/2 (basketball may play until 3/21)
